Pregnancy Update
Sunday, July 06, 2014 44 Comments Images

Well guys, I am usually pretty to myself about personal things, but I have decided it's time to have a real moment here and talk about the good AND the not so fun parts of pregnancy. I have actually been home for the past while not being able to do much of anything. I will get out here and there and that's when I still get to do outfit posts, but as you can probably tell it has been a little slow lately.
It all started out with early contractions and some preterm labor. I have been dilated to a 1.5 and 80% effaced for a couple weeks now. This actually isn't that abnormal though, I could sit like this for a month before having the baby. I was then lucky enough to somehow get pneumonia last week. It literally made me feel like I had 100 pounds on my chest, and couldn't catch a breath. I was so exhausted and could barely do anything, so just to be safe they monitored me really close through the whole thing.  I am slowly healing from it, and am grateful for the great care I had from my doctor and all my family and friends. I don't know what I would have done without them.
Now to get to the good stuff, the baby is looking good, big, and healthy! I've had some steroid shots to make sure that his lungs will be fully developed if he decides to come out early, which has made me feel a lot better. I am so extremely blessed to have a healthy baby inside of me and would go through anything to keep him healthy.
I am 35 1/2 weeks now and wow am I feeling uncomfortable and pregnant.  I had Hanes when I was 37 weeks so who knows what's going to happen?  I am going to make sure I am prepared by 37 weeks but I am not going to plan on having him yet.
Now even though I've had a few bumps in the road, I know it could be a million times worse and I'm grateful for the experience I have had this far. I look at some of the things women go through and I feel so fortunate and blessed. I hope you guys don't take any of what I have written in the wrong way, and think I am complaining or anything. I just wanted to give everyone a little bit of an update on the pregnancy because I'm grateful for  everyone following along like you have! Love you all and appreciate your kind words more than you know!

  1. I look forward to all your posts but its totally understandable for you to take the time to take care of yourself and family right now. Hopefully you'll feel better soon! When you do I hope you can go over your diet and exercise a bit. How did you previously and how do you plan now to get rid of the lower belly pooch and/or extra belly skin? My sister had a baby 11 months ago at age 21. The doctors and everyone else kept telling her that her body would just spring right back but it definitely hasn't. She is thin but can't get rid of the pooch and extra skin and I can see how it affects her self esteem. Any advice you can give on this would be much appreciated. Thanks Cara! Get well and can't wait to see the you and your new family member!

    1. Hi Candice. I may do a few diet and exercise posts once I have my baby and can exercise again. Most of the time your body will never be the same after pregnancy but it's worth it IMO! Tell your sis she's beautiful and to keep her head up:)

  6. Praying for a smooth delivery for you - I also had my daughter 3 weeks early (due to preeclampsia) and I know how scary that can be. Hope the medication will help your pneumonia to heal so you can start feeling better! :)

  22. I remember those last weeks very well (especially the heartburn) and it was almost a year ago for me now. If it's any consolation, your fab factor has only increased as your belly has grown :)
